Rica Joins Ethiopia’s Digital Economy with Ecommerce, Ride-haling, Delivery Services 

Rica Technologies, an Ethiopian private company that specializes in Internet-related services and products, has unveiled two platforms, marking its entry into the ecommerce, delivery, and ride-hailing sectors.

Rica Trip is a ride-hailing platform that offers mobility solutions by connecting customers to drivers with a range of vehicles.

The ride-haling platform brings a new feature called Rica School, where parents can send vehicles to pick up or drop off their children at school.

Rica Trip has a flag-down fee of 95 birr and a 10 birr per km rate. The company takes a 5pc commission from the earnings of drivers. The Rica Driver app has been downloaded over 10,000 times on Google Play and has street pick-up and package delivery features.

Rica Shopping is an e-commerce and social media platform that lets users buy and sell goods while they are still in touch with their friends and families.

Rica Shopping’s online one-stop shop features restaurants, butcheries, supermarkets, beauty supply companies, pharmaceuticals, and other products. Items ordered on the shopping platform are delivered through Rica Drivers with delivery rates similar to those on the ride-hailing platform.

Both Rica Trip and Rica Shopping are available on Android and IOS.

Rica Technologies was founded in December 2021 by three founders with a mission to make people’s lives easier through digital platforms. Besides ride-hailing and online shopping, Rica has pending work in e-payment, online advertising technologies, cloud computing, and software development.
