UNESCO’s Aschberg Programme and Gerar – The Creative Hub have partnered to launch a project that aims to empower Ethiopian women visual artists through digital means.
Titled Finding Se’alit, this initiative aims to develop a comprehensive brand with its digital presence for women creatives in the visual arts by building their visibility and creating equitable market opportunities.
By providing digital skills training to 20 female visual artists, the initiative aims to address the digital divide and ensure equitable access and opportunities for all artists, particularly women.
Finding Se’alit will work closely with the visual artists to establish and enhance their brand and digital platforms, including websites, social media accounts, and marketing strategies. This support will enable these artists to showcase their work, engage with wider audiences, and seize new opportunities in the global digital landscape.
Finding Se’alit aims to create job opportunities for 100 individuals engaged in the culture and creative industry. By harnessing the potential of emerging technologies, the project aims to foster innovation and empower the next generation of talent. This project will also host an exhibition with the works of 20 female visual artists to create exposure for the artists and create market opportunities.
“We believe every creative deserves a chance to thrive in the digital era. Finding Se’alit will unlock new possibilities for women visual artists, ensuring their talent and creativity receive the recognition they deserve,” said Seminas Hadera founder and manager of Gerar – The Creative Hub.
The UNESCO-Aschberg Programme for Artists and Cultural Professionals strives to protect and promote artistic freedom, the status of artists and cultural professionals, and to facilitate a balanced flow of cultural goods and services. It provides technical assistance, tools, and capacities to foster the emergence and development of environments conducive to creativity.
Meanwhile, Gerar – The Creative Hub aims to foster innovation, job creation, and entrepreneurship in the culture and creative industries.
